Enjoying the Handicraft fair in New Delhi

(New Delhi, India, 21-28th of February)

We flew from Phnom Penh to New Delhi and checked in to our hotel in Chowdy Chok, a modern hotel but situated  a bit “off the grid”. Even if the hotel was fancy the only dinner options were the hotels restaurant or the shabby places down at the metro station.

A couple of days later our daughter Moa arrived. We were all going to a big handicraft fair in Delhi, starting on the 23:d of February.

The fair is huge and we had imagined a total loud mess with a lot of Indian people. But this was not at all what the fair is about. It is a very organized and fancy place and you are able to walk around without anybody shouting “come see my shop” at you all the time.

In the beginning it was a bit hard to find the way around the fair but after a while we started to get a bit organized and made up a list of companies we wanted to visit.  We quickly got the hang of how it was set up and soon we were running up and down the isles.

We did not order anything at the fair but we picked a lot of items we liked, planning to get in contact with some companies later on.

Our visit in New Delhi also included one day wandering around the streets of the Spice Market in Old Delhi. India is a fantastic and overwhelming country especially when you are close to the “chaos” and the smells and the colours .
